Norman Review. This product Diatomaceous was to dustly and show no effect on pet's in any form.
Caution...pool filter grade NOT safe for humans and pets. Please know that the "food" grade/diatomaceous earth meant for use to combat insects (indoors and out) is the only product safe around pets and humans. I am shopping for this grade. Please do NOT make the serious mistake (as suggested by another reviewer) of purchasing a product meant for use in pool filters...it is dangerous for any other use. As to this particular brand: Though I have not yet purchased it, I like the shaker availability and may use it to apply the DE, refilling from a larger bag.
Consider applying outdoors on a day that not too windy---it's best not to be breathing this although it's not poisonous. It's an irritant. Avoid getting some in your eyes and be sure to wash your hands well after using it.
I'll be using DE to rid some areas outside of bugs, especially around the foundation of our house. Garter snakes have taken up an unpleasant residence there---and frankly their presence is extremely disturbing to us. I have read numerous places that one way to discourage them is to take away one typical food source: bugs. I'm allergic to moth balls (and they produce poisonous fumes); commercial repellants are generally not effective. Wish us luck. And please know that no amount of pro-reptile talk will have us change our minds. Call it "fear and loathing on the back patio."
In fairness to this brand, I have rated it high although I don't have direct experience with this company. (It's not possible to make comments without giving a rating.) The dangerous suggestion to use pool grade DE I'm sure was unintentional.
Diatomaceous Earth Shaker. This product was received as promised and well packaged so that it would not be damaged. I could not have used this fine powder without the shaker and recommend you get it for ease of spreading as the powder is very fine. Also, heed the warning and use an appropriate mask when using it.
It seems to work well so I am pleased with this purchase and would highly recommend product and manufacturer if you're looking to buy it. I can say that I am not disappointed.
My jove I think this works!. I live in NYC and everyone knows its hard to keep roaches out of your place when you share walls with other tenets and you live in some of the older building. I didn't wanna use any chemical sprays but I cannot handle critters so I thought I'd give this stuff a try. I have been using this powder for about a month now and I've noticed a decrease in the number of critters I see. I have seen one or two in the bathroom and they looked strange cause I guess they were missing their exoskeleton. This stuff does what it says! Will definately keep it near my entry was and in my kitchen.
Great stuff. This stuff is great, it's safe and effective. This is all that I will use to control fleas and bugs that annoy us and our cats.
